Juhas’ spareribs with cabbage and potatoes (Juhas is a young shepherd)


  • 2,5 kg pork or mutton spareribs, marinated seasoning
  • 2 kg potatoes
  • 1 kg sauerkraut
  • dried wild mushrooms
  • 10 dag packet butter
  • 25 dag lard
  • 10 dag honey vodka (miodonka)
  • seasoning


Fry marinated spareribs on low heat for about 50 minutes basting with water. Add 10 dag honey vodka (miodonka) at the end of frying. Cook sauerkraut for about half an hour adding a pinch of seasoning and mushrooms (soaked in water and fried with onion beforehand). Stew everything till some water evaporates and add 100 g butter. Stew for another 10 minutes. Slice cooked potatoes and fry in lard.
